Due to growth and promotion, our client is looking for an experienced Legal & Compliance Counsel to be based out of their Al Khobar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia head office.
The Legal & Compliance Counsel is a sole-position and will be responsible for our client?s most dynamic and profitable regions, this comprises of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain with legal management of over 1bn worth of business. You will be an essential member of the Executive Management Team and will report functionally to the Managing Director and directly to the Legal & Compliance Director.

This role is extremely engaging, offering a width breadth of corporate and commercial matters.
Working autonomously in managing the clients legal affairs in this successful ?and will be entrusted with advising senior management on critical legal matters, whilst maintaining a keen focus on key business drivers.

Key responsibilities/accountabilities
- Overall responsibility for the management of the legal and compliance affairs of the designated markets, including requisite training;
- Apprise executive management team on risks and exposures;
- Interface with high senior levels of clients, agents and senior government officials;
- Participate in high stakes negotiations, innovative deal structuring (JV, strategic alliances, M&A, divestitures, etc.);
- Assess, appoint and manage outside counsel;
- Manage litigation, including determination of reserves/accruals and reporting thereof;
- Participation in management of agents including, but not limited to, due diligence or terminations thereof;
- Management of matters relating to threatened and potential litigation;
- Together with other Regional Legal Groups, participate in managing notable issues relating to customer contracts, corporate administration, trade compliance/customs, tax and corporate compliance;
- Review / negotiate / draft bespoke agreements, including those related to vendors, agents, NDA's, MOU's (i.e. non-customer agreements).
The successful candidate will possess an excellent western education in common law, having completed their training within an international law firm with 6 - 10 PQE. Currently working within the oil & gas sector and have the drive and ambition to join a global team of international lawyers.
