IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union closing Abingdon branch

IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union announced today its Abingdon branch, 405 Western St., will close April 26. The credit union is consolidating operations in Abingdon with its Galesburg and Monmouth facilities.

All employees at the Abingdon branch will be transferred to other IHMVCU locations in western Illinois.

?As a credit union, IHMVCU doesn?t have shareholders, it has members. So, it?s important to work in their best interest,? said Dennis Hall, president/CEO.? ?Consolidating the Abingdon branch into neighboring locations means we can still provide great service but do so at a reduced cost.?

IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union has two branches in Galesburg, a drive-up branch at 1215 Monmouth Blvd., and its main branch at 404 W. Carl Sandburg Drive. The Monmouth branch is located at 2 AmericInn Way.

IHMVCU moved into Galesburg when members of the Galesburg Midwest Employees Credit Union voted in the fall of 2007 to merge with the Moline-based credit union, which has 15 branches. The 1215 Monmouth Blvd. location served as the main office in Galesburg until the new branch opened on West Carl Sandburg Drive in July of last year.
