This enthusiasm is being expressed in an exciting new era of design through new ways to incorporate fur that is revolutionising the industry as fur fashion has become a year-round companion.

Fur was once relegated only to the winter months, but thanks to the clever manipulations of today?s most famous designers it is just as suitable for summer wear. In 1965, a new relationship struck between fashion giant Fendi and the then young designer Karl Lagerfeld changed the future of fur within the fashion industry forever. Oscar de la Renta is known for his use of new methods and processes to create classic styles, and his use of Chinese lamb, Barquzine sable, Finn racoon and mink in his latest Spring/Summer collection has allowed him to create coats, stoles, shrugs and boleros reminiscent of the 1950s ? but so much lighter and more wearable. Meanwhile Helen Yarmak remains cutting-edge as ever with her combination of this season?s high colour trends with eye-catching, sumptuous furs that instantly steal the limelight. Surprisingly lightweight, these furs give the impression of being much fuller. Her gilets are vibrantly coloured: bright yellows and turquoises instantly catch the attention, and draw the eye to the fabulous cuts she has created. These pieces certainly do deserve their place in the spotlight.

Hats have also turned heads with traditional cuts firmly back on the fur fashion map. While master fur milliner Philip Treacy may have caught worldwide attention through his designs for the British Royals, his Trapper or Cossack designs are perhaps more suited to winter months, but this season?s summer styles don?t weigh as heavy on the mind as you might think. Look to the scorching ranges in the Australian Outback where a fur felt fedora is a staple piece of headwear, for proof that its inherent comfort can be accessed without overheating the think tank. Fuudluxe?s fur-lined snood?s are the perfect sunny example, as their Disco Diva and Festival Floral designs are coupled with denim and sequins to dance their way on to the trend-conscious summer concert scene. As too will bags, as they go back to nature with a series of animal prints, reptile skins and fur trims that are destined to stand out from the summer crowd.
